Once and Future Action Network
The Once and Future Action Network (OFAN) is an international network of gender, science and technology organisations which calls attention to women's contribution to people-centred and environmentally sustainable approaches to science and technology.
Activities:
OFAN Network
- raise awareness about the importance of gender, science and technology issues internationally, nationally and locally;
- advocacy at international conferences, such as Beijing+5 and the ITU/UNESCO World Conference on Science (1999);
- exhibits and demonstrations such as the Once and Future Pavilion held at the NGO Forum of the UN Fourth World Conference on Women.
- information and resources in gender, science and technology
OFAN is no longer a formal network. We can no longer make a case for maintaining a global network with the costs of coordination, communication and network administration.
But OFAN will continue as an informal network, to exchange information and develop periodic joint activities.
Our current focus is to develop a global programme on gender and ICTs. We invite all interested groups to discuss collaboration with us, in relation to your current and planned activities.
